We kicked off 2026 by returning to Pints for Paws, the snowiest beer festival in Florida!
I can’t think of a better way to kick off a new year of festivals than Pints for Paws. This year, 15 craft breweries and 31 homebrewers poured over 100 different beers, helping to raise over $55k for the Tallahassee Animal Shelter Foundation. In particular, this festival was the first festival we attended after returning to festivals.
We took two beers: Winter Wheat Wine and Black Cat Stout. The stout was well-received, especially considering that the club competition in December was Dry Irish Stout, so there were a bunch of good examples at the festival. The wheatwine was also well-received. It is a relatively obscure style, and of the folks who were aware of it, few had ever tried one.
Aside from the adorable pups there for adoption, the highlight this year was the snow. Last year, we had a blizzard (9" here in Marianna) the week before the festival, and we rolled up to the festival on Saturday with snow still on the ground. This year, the weather was warmer, but we still had flurries on and off for hours. I think there’s a case to be made that P4P is the coldest beer festival in Florida!
